BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WESH) — A Florida woman is accused of killing a dog after an argument with her husband.

Sherry Ann White, 51, of Cocoa is now behind bars.

Deputies say she and her husband were arguing and she stabbed the dog, named Jake, nine times.

She woke up her husband to tell him what she’d done to Jake who allegedly belonged to White’s husband, police said.

She’s charged with aggravated animal abuse and animal cruelty.

She’s behind bars on a $2,000 bond but Sheriff Wayne Ivey hopes to change that.

“I promise you, I’m gonna work with our legislators to make sure this changes. Arrest on probable cause. This woman has no remorse.” Ivey said.

Sheriff Ivey says he has a zero-tolerance policy for animal abuse in Brevard County.

“I am disgusted by the actions of this individual who stabbed her husband’s innocent dog to death because she was angry at her husband,” Ivey said. “If you can do something like this to an animal you could do it to a human.”
